Restoring the Village. Activating the Web of Care.

Sacred Birthing Village uplifts a way of being rooted in ancestral memory, shared responsibility, and collective thriving.
We are not a program, we are a living, breathing Village remembering how to care for one another through the sacred journey of bringing new life into the world. Our work centers the Web of Care, a practice that activates the power of kinship, community wisdom, and shared responsibility around every birthing person and family. It ensures no one is navigating pregnancy, birth, or postpartum alone, because healing, safety, joy, and thriving require a Village.

Our offerings walk with families through every threshold:

  • Preconception: Preparing the soil

  • Pregnancy: Holding the sacred journey

  • Birth: Honoring the initiation

  • Postpartum: Restoring vitality and integration

These pathways are not services, they are communal practices of belonging, sovereignty, and remembrance.

THE WEB OF CARE

How We Remember, Reclaim, Revive & Restore

The Web of Care is the heartbeat of SBV. It is a lived practice that reconnects families with the wisdom, people, and resources that already exist around them. Through this practice, families re-discover:

  • Who walks with them

  • Who supports them

  • Who they can call on

  • What strengths they already have

  • What tools they need to thrive

  • How community wisdom can be activated

  • How to build a Village that outlives systems

The Web of Care strengthens natural supports AND widens the circle with SisterFriends, Village Tenders, Birthkeepers, and community partnersforming an ecosystem that protects birthing people and babies while restoring ancestral practice in modern times.

Preconception:

Preparing the Soil

Before life is conceived, we gather those who will one day become parents.
In circle, through story, ritual, grounding, and community practice, we prepare the soil before the seed.

Preconception spaces offer:

  • Foundational preparation before pregnancy

  • Sisterhood, grounding, clarity

  • Emotional + spiritual readiness

  • Community orientation, Resourcing

  • Early Web of Care activation

Pregnancy: Holding the Sacred Journey

Pregnancy is a sacred threshold, a transformation of identity, spirit, body, and family.
We surround pregnant Sisters with a circle of relational, emotional, cultural, and practical support.

Pregnancy support includes:

  • Holistic prenatal support

  • Circle-based sisterhood

  • Emotional and spiritual grounding

  • Navigation of needs through the Web of Care

  • Devoted SisterFriend accompaniment

  • Advocacy + resource weaving

Birth: Sacred Initiation, Ancestral Portal

Birth is a rite of passage for the birthing person, the baby, and the community.
We walk with families to prepare them emotionally, spiritually, physically, and culturally for this initiation.

Birth support includes:

  • Birth preparation grounded in ancestral wisdom

  • Blessing ceremonies

  • Advocacy + presence during birth (when invited)

  • Tools to reclaim sovereignty and voice

We witness , we do not manage.
We honor the power and purpose that already lives within the birthing person.

Postpartum: Rest, Restoration, and Rising

After birth, the Village embraces the family with the care they deserve. We offer nourishment, grounding, warmth, rest, and integration.

Postpartum support includes:

  • Rest rituals and community nourishment

  • Warm foods + healing traditions

  • Emotional and spiritual integration

  • Postpartum visits + practical support

  • Family constellation support

  • Resource weaving + advocacy

We ensure birthing people and babies are not recovering in isolation, but rising in community.

After the Re-birth of the mother and birth of the baby, the village will prepare to welcome the new lives into our community. We understand our responsibility is to ensure that “we celebrate their lives as if life is all we have” (Mama Kathryn Hall-Trujillo). We welcome our family to a Baby Naming, Whispers & Dreams Ceremony.

Our approach is rooted in practices that support the vitality and health of our birthing families and lessen extreme symptoms and emergencies of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. Our approach is rooted in the wise women traditions (midwifery) care model. We follow the four essentials of postpartum healing: an extended resting period, warm temperatures, warm nature, easy-to-digest, nutrient-dense foods, bodywork, and warming therapies.

Other Sacred Pathways We Walk:

Our commitment to thriving Black and Brown families extends beyond birthwork. Our Web of Care continues across the full spectrum of life through:

Conscious Family Planning
We support individuals and families in making empowered, informed, and sacred decisions about when, how, and if they choose to bring life into the world. Rooted in ancestral wisdom and reproductive sovereignty, this is family planning without coercion or shame, grounded instead in clarity, autonomy, and love.

Health & Wellness for Birthing People, Parents & Babies
We recognize wellness as a birthright, not a privilege. Our offerings uplift the physical, emotional, spiritual, and mental well-being of the whole family, from herbal teachings and somatic practices to parents’ circles and wellness rituals. When one heals, the Village and community heal.

Community-Centered Resource Weaving
We create and curate culturally grounded tools and connections that allow families to sustain their wellness long after our direct touch healing guides, wellness kits, trusted partner referrals, and sacred knowledge passed through the hands of the Village.
